VISIT ARTURO MORA'S CERAMICS STUDIO
Come and visit Arturo Mora's Ceramics Studio, the last one specialized in Lustreware technique - also known as "golden ware" - which was developed from the 14th century in Manises. This village became famous all around the world due to the beauty and quality of its golden ware which was required by Kings, nobles and Popes of that time. Nowadays, our studio is the only one that produces this exclusive ceramics.
Descendant of an ancient family of ceramists, Arturo Mora elaborates reproductions of historical pieces that were made in Manises' workshops between the 14th and 18th centuries. Many of these originals - and some of Mora's reproductions - are today in the most important museums all around the world such as the Metropolitan Museum in New York, Victoria & Albert in London, Hermitage in St. Petersburg, among others.
During your visit, Arturo Mora himself will show you a very especial collection of his hand painted Lustreware pieces which have been thrown in the potter's wheel and fired for the third time in a reduction atmosphere. You will get to know the history of this ceramics technique, its different pieces and its importance over the centuries. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to see a potter's wheel throwing exhibition, to paint your own pieces and to visit the only Lustreware wood-firing kiln that still exists in Manises.
After your visit you will be able to have a look at the shop and buy Arturo Mora's Lustreware reproductions or make a commission of your favourite piece (we post worldwide).
